Kenneth Eng interview and Article
March 10th, 2007Eng is not as much of a problem as is the media outlet that allowed him to publish his crap. Based on the
interview, this guy has had a bad go of it at NYU and he’s hating everyone who does not live in the house with him –he’s slightly less than nuts.
There is no real good reason to give Eng a forum unless you are some TV guy looking for something to fire people up and get calls so that the person running the show can say he’s got all these viewers and the advertising
people can sell ads and his media outlet can make money. Young man, it’s all about the money! Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, limiting prescriptions from other countries, watching small African nations engage in genocide, etc., etc,, etc. It’s all about the money!
Look at what Eng has done. You want a piece of him. Other talk show folks want him. He gets a free trip some
place, hotel and food for a day. Add all that up for about half of the talk shows around and you’ve got a young man
who has played folks and traveled all over the country.
I’d much rather be focused on what you are doing now - giving black men - and women - a voice they do not now
have. Stay strong on that.
I’d love to see you use your show to promote black men like the former guard from Georgia Tech, Maubury who has worked to stop the madness about buying the expensive tennis shoes. I’d love to see a greater focus on
football players who are trying to do something in the communities from whence they came.
In short, focus on issues we need to face ourselves young man. Get some of the gang guys to talk about why
they are able to attract so many folks to do bad. Get some brothers in the military to talk about how a structured life
has helped them return to the rural south and urban areas like yours and make a difference. Get some of the folks from the muslim community to tell us what it is they tell guys that make them love themselves more after they leave prison.
People like Eng will continue to irk folks like you and me, but so do the black men and women who use the n -word as easily as they sprinkle salt on unseasoned meat.
Young man, remember the adage that it makes no difference what anyone calls you - what counts is what you answer to.
